简繁转换与一简对多繁
Simplified ↔ Traditional Chinese converter
Convert between Simplified (简体) and Traditional (繁體) characters using word context so tricky one-to-many characters like 头发 (頭髮) vs 出发 (出發) and 后面 (後面) vs 皇后 (皇后) get the right character.
一简对多繁Common one-to-many characters learners mix up
| Simplified | Traditional forms | How to tell them apart |

| 干 | 乾 vs 幹 vs 干 | 乾 (gān) means "dry / clean" (干净, 饼干, 干杯); 幹 (gàn) means "to do / work" (干活, 干什么); 干 itself is kept in 若干, 干涉 and 不相干. |

Common questions
Why can’t Simplified to Traditional conversion just swap characters one by one?
Because one simplified character often merged two or three unrelated traditional characters with different meanings: 发 is 發 in 发现 (discover) but 髮 in 头发 (hair); 后 is 後 in 以后 (after) but 后 in 皇后 (empress); 面 is 麵 for noodles (面条) but 面 for face (见面).
Which regions use Simplified vs Traditional characters?
Mainland China, Singapore and Malaysia use Simplified characters (简体字), as does the standard HSK exam. Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau use Traditional characters (繁體字). IGCSE and IB Chinese exams allow candidates to choose either script.
