The 把 (bǎ) sentence explained

把 moves a definite object in front of the verb to stress what happens to it: 我把作业写完了 "I finished the homework". The pattern is Subject + 把 + Object + Verb + something else (a result, direction, 了, or place). The verb cannot stand alone, and the object must be something specific both speakers know.

Common questions

When must I use 把?

When the verb is followed by a place or recipient with 在, 到 or 给 and you name the object, 把 is usually required: 把书放在桌上, not 放书在桌上.
