HSK 3 Writing: Format, Tips and Practice
HSK 3 writing has two parts: put given words in the right order to make a sentence (5 questions), and write the missing character from its pinyin (5 questions). Most marks are lost on word order and on characters that sound the same.

Part 1: Complete the sentence
Questions 71–75
Arrange the given words into one correct sentence.
- Find the verb first, then the subject.
- Put time and place before the verb.
- Check for 了, 过, 的 and the measure word.
Part 2: Write the character
Questions 76–80
Write the character shown by the pinyin above the blank.
- Learn the HSK 1–3 characters by writing, not only by reading.
- Watch for homophones: 在/再, 做/作, 的/得.
