用法How to use 为
为 (wèi) most often means 'for' — doing something for the benefit of a person or thing. It comes before the person or thing, and the whole 为 phrase sits before the main verb: 为 + someone/something + verb. It is a little more formal than 给 and is common in set phrases like 为……服务 and 为……工作; the reading wéi is different, meaning 'to act as' (e.g., 作为).
