假 (jiǎ) most commonly means 'fake' or 'false': not real or not true. It is an adjective, often used before a noun (假钱, 假话, 假货) or after 是 as 是假的; do not use it as a verb meaning 'to fake.' The separate common reading jià means 'vacation/holiday' (as in 放假), so distinguish it from this jiǎ entry.
