用法How to use 停止
停止 means "to stop or cease" an activity, process, or operation, and is more formal than the everyday 停. It is a verb that usually takes an object naming what stops (停止工作, 停止营业, 停止说话), or its subject is the activity itself (比赛停止了). Use it for things like work, business, production, or talking — not for a car or person simply coming to a halt.
