卡 has two common readings. 卡 (kǎ) is a noun meaning 'card' — 银行卡, 图书卡, 刷卡 — and also appears in 卡车 'truck' and 卡通 'cartoon'. 卡 (qiǎ) is a verb meaning 'to get stuck or jammed' (卡住了, 钥匙卡在锁里) or a noun for a clip or fastener (发卡).
