用法How to use 学
学 (xué, one reading only) is a verb meaning 'to learn / to study' and takes its object directly: 学汉语, 学做饭, 学开车. It is the short, colloquial partner of 学习 and is the usual choice before result complements such as 学会 (to master) and 学完 (to finish studying). The bound noun use in 数学/化学 ('-ology, science') is not the HSK verb sense.

易混词Easily confused
学vs学习
Both mean 'to learn/study', but 学习 is the fuller two-syllable word that can also be a noun (学习很重要) and sounds more formal, while 学 is shorter, more spoken, and is the usual verb before complements like 学会 and 学完.
