用法How to use 顿
顿 is a measure word used for meals: 一顿饭 is "a meal", and 一天三顿饭 means "three meals a day". It also counts a single bout of scolding or hitting, as in 骂了一顿 or 打了一顿; here it follows the verb (verb + 了 + 一顿). The verb sense "to pause" appears in 停顿 or 顿了一下 and is less common in everyday speech.
