用法How to use 风
风 (fēng) is a noun meaning "wind". It usually appears as a subject or object: 风很大/风很小 (the wind is strong/light), 刮风 (the wind blows), 一阵风 (a gust of wind), 风停了 (the wind has stopped). In compounds it can also mean "style" or "custom" (风格, 风俗), but alone it almost always means physical wind.

Wind is described with 刮, not 下; 下雨/下雪 use 下, but the fixed phrase is 刮风.

风vs封
封 (also fēng) is a verb "to seal" and a classifier for letters: 一封信 (a letter). 风 is a noun ("wind", and "style/custom" in compounds) and is never a classifier, so do not write 一风信 for "a letter".
