HSK 7–9 Vocabulary List (2025 Syllabus): All 5,600 Advanced Entries

Levels 7–9 share one list and one exam. This list contains only the 5,600 entries new at Levels 7–9; the exam also assumes the 5,400 entries of Levels 1–6.

Counted by the first part of speech given for each entry; 456 entries list more than one. Entries without a part of speech are mostly set phrases and idioms (成语).

Common questions
How many words are in HSK 7–9?
The 2025 exam syllabus lists 5,600 vocabulary entries first introduced at Levels 7–9. Together with the 5,400 entries for Levels 1–6, the advanced exam covers 11,000 numbered entries. Homographs and separate readings count as separate entries.
Are Levels 7, 8 and 9 separate exams?
No. Levels 7–9 form one advanced band with a single combined exam, and the syllabus lists their vocabulary together under the annotation 7-9. Your score on that exam determines whether you are certified at Level 7, 8 or 9.
Why do other lists say 11,092 words?
That figure is the total of the 2021 proficiency standard (GF 0025-2021). The November 2025 exam syllabus, which the exam follows, has 11,000 numbered entries. Apps built on the 2021 standard will not match this list exactly.
Can I download the HSK 7–9 word list?
Yes. The CSV has all 5,600 entries with the official entry number, level annotation, term, pinyin, part of speech and PDF page. It does not repeat Levels 1–6, which have their own lists.
Why are there no example sentences for HSK 7–9 words?
Usage notes on this site currently cover HSK 2.0 Levels 1–4 and HSK 3.0 Levels 1–3. Advanced entries link to a word page where one exists; otherwise use the checker to test your own sentences with the word.
